WONDERS online - read books and play games that align with what we are learning in class this week! This is such a great resource when your child is absent from school! Logging on to the dashboard will give you access to the stories he/she may be missing, and educational games about the letters and sight words we are practicing for the week.
Imagine Learning - This is a great literacy site we use here at school. The best thing about it is that the program adjusts its level based on your student's performance, so they are working on the skills they need at the literacy level that is best for them. Use your student's school ID number as the Username and Password (that the one that starts with a 9 - I can look it up for you and send it to you if you do not have it, and use the site code 4900360.
Weebly Interactive Educational Games - This is a great site. It has TONS of interactive games that are appropriate for young children. The only drawback is that the games are sorted by subject area, but not age level. It would be best if an adult were to choose the subject area, and maybe even the game.
Literacy Center - There are some cool letter games for the students to play on this site. If you navigate away from the interactive games, there is some good information for parents about literacy development. Keep checking back to this site - it kind of seems like the site is still growing/being developed.
Starfall - Really wonderful and free literacy website. In class, we use this in our computer center. It teaches letters and sounds; and then also has a variety of easy-to-read books when children have progressed beyond letter sounds.
ABCya.com - I absolutely LOVE this game website. There are some great games for letters, numbers, holidays, and other skills. This link will take you straight to the Kindergarten page, but if you feel your student needs games that are more/less advanced, feel free to explore the other grades. This may require a little supervision, because there are advertisements on this site that will navigate away from the games; children sometimes get lost with that.
These are not my favorite (not as easy for children to navigate), but there are some addition and subtraction games at the following links: Math Playground and Fun 4 the Brain
PBS kids - safe place for your kids to play on the internet, often with characters they already know.
Use the QR code below to access my playlist of Mindfulness Videos for children. Mindfulness is the idea of being aware of your mind/feelings and noticing how they are affecting you. That way, you can consciously utilize techniques to change the way you think/feel if it is not helpful to you at the moment. I have quite a few students this year who really struggle with calming themselves when they feel silly or playful (and those feeling are not always useful at school). I especially enjoy the Cosmic Kids videos - if you subscribe to her channel on YouTube, Jamie has many more videos available... some of them are too long for school...
